Pratice-theory relay: Rural Commons Festival

The Rural Commons Festival is an itinerant festival dedicated to collective rural practices. In 2021, during three week-ends between May and June in Trentino (IT), we explored and celebrated pratices that promote inclusive and regenerative communities, which care for the multiplicity of human and more-than-human inhabitants of their territories.

After almost one year of preparation in collaboration with over 30 local organisations, the festival took place in three different valley and took a site-specific approach in each of them:

– Giudicarie valley: Rural commons and community resources – rethinking the value and innovating collective institutions

– Vallagarina valley: Rural commons and community economies – a theory and practice exchange

– Terragnolo valley: Rural commons and heritage regeneration – creative approaches to new forms of habitat

During each week-end, approaches to rural commons were explored through guided walks, a research symposium, artistic performances, presentations, workshops and music.
