Local research trip: 4 weeks of Vallagarina In August, we spent 4 weeks camping in different corners of the Vallagarina to get a much more detailed understanding of our territory. Each basecamp was set up between 20 minutes and 1 hour drive from our community lab space. We used the time to hike, read, discuss, think and meet fellow multispecies inhabitants and their livelihood practices. &bsp; We spent time at Lago di Cei with its “uso civico” (commons) right at the lake, its alpage commons, centenary trees, Natura 2000 sites and Mount Stivo. &bsp; We then moved on to spend time in Serrada at the cross-road between a high-tourism destination and a valley threatened by a new highway development. Also here we specifically focused on engaging with common lands and practices of collective territorial governance. &bsp Finally, we spend time between Brentonico and the Lessinia Mountains, tracing back in time how humans moved through and lived in the Alps during the Stone Age. We also searched (and found) fossils going back to a time when our part of the Alps was below sea level. &bsp; PrintFriendly
