Research trip: Pontevedra & Frojám, ES

In our quest to learn more about traditional land-based commons, we spent a few days in Galicia with fellow CERN member Noortje Keurhorst.

For her PhD, Noortje works on traditional land-based commons in Spain. Together we visited Joam Pím Evans near Santiago de Compostela, who with his local community is doing some amazing work to defend their forest from eucalyptus monocultures, industrial logging and mining. Evans also introduced us to the regenerative work they do on the land as an extended collective – showing us how he interweaves caring for the land with securing his community’s livelihood.

Thank you Noortje, Joam & Co. for the hospitality.
