Talk: Kultur im Dorf – Dorfkultur in Wattens (AUT)

On June 16, 2023, the symposium “Kultur im Dorf – Dorfkultur, Dritte Orte als Zukunftslabore für Tirol” (Culture in the Village – Village Culture, Third Places as Future Laboratories for Tyrol) took place and Bianca, and two representatives of the municipality of Rovereto, Mauro Previdi, Assessor for Social Politics and Marco Mozelt, Head of the Office for Social Politics were on site and presented La Foresta. The term „Dritte Orte” (third places) refers to public spaces outside the home (first place) and workplace (second place). Third places are social environments that offer people an informal and sociable space to meet, interact and experience community. Third places can serve a variety of purposes, from revitalizing city centers to educational institutions to co-working spaces.
 

We were able to talk about how La Foresta became a community academy at the railroad station in Rovereto (Trentino, Italy) which started in the year 2017. Local cultural associations took part in a joint co-design process along with the city administration and the Italian state railroads to develop a concept for the use of vacant station spaces. Using methods from art, design and culture, the people in La Foresta are working on issues of communal living and developing initiatives to drive forward the agro-ecological transformation in an innovative, inclusive and socially responsible way throughout the region. The symposium was organized by Johannes Reisigl and Helene Schnitzer of the Tiroler Kulturinitiative and was held at the Neuwirt in Wattens (Tyrol).
