Wenden…svoltare Podcast: Pessimism? We can’t afford it

It’s time to get active, says Bianca Elzenbaumer, designer and researcher. In a world characterised by watching, passivity is no longer an option. Especially in light of the climate crisis, we can’t afford to complain; it doesn’t minimise the challenges we face.

Bianca Elzenbaumer has made a conscious decision to live for the common good and the commons in a small valley community in the southern Alps, Vallagarina. Using the tools of design and communication, she shows how we can turn our ideas into actions. She turns “what if” into “this is how we do it”. For her, changemaking is more than just a profession – it is a way of life that initiates and drives change. What we lack today is a utopia as a compass and the courage to question established norms and dare to try something new.

Vallagarina shows that change is possible by activating perceptions and ideas. The community learns to let go of familiar patterns and actively shape them. Each individual can be part of the change if we have the courage to shape our own future.

Bianca Elzenbaumer shows us how we can shape the world around us through creative and determined action. Her story reminds us that we can no longer be spectators, but actors in shaping a future worth living for everyone.
