Tool: Organisational visualisation of La Foresta

From January to May 2026, sustainability-focused designer Giorgia Morandi (MA, Aalto University) collaborated with members of the community academy La Foresta on two key projects:
 
a) Visualizing La Foresta’s human ecosystem
This involved mapping the organization’s objectives, areas of engagement, people, and ongoing projects. The output is an ever-evolving visualization displayed on a central wall at La Foresta, providing insiders, newcomers, and visitors with a clear overview of this dynamic yet complex organization. This tool is especially valuable as La Foresta prepares to expand into two new spaces at the train station of Rovereto and transitions to a fully sociocratic organizational model.
 

b) Mapping the community aspects of the group using the CLIPS framework
The CLIPS (Community Learning Incubator Programme for Sustainability), developed by the Global Ecovillage Network Europe, offers practical tools, guidelines, and methods to help intentional communities manage group dynamics, resolve conflicts, and build sustainable infrastructures. The resulting overview of La Foresta’s strengths and weaknesses now serves as a guideline, identifying areas where targeted training or ad hoc facilitation could enhance member well-being and the organization’s long-term viability.
